The colour of safety

An Effer 1750L 8S + 6S orange fluo has been chosen for working in the nuclear plant of Embalse, in Argentina

In high-risk work contexts, also the colour you choose for your crane plays an essential role in granting safety of the people working nearby.

That’s why the Effer 1750L 8S + 6S, delivered in February to Argentina, got immediately outstanding with a fluo coat – difficult not to notice it! This color has been chosen to grant a safe work environment for the technicians of Embalse nuclear plant. In fact, the arm of the crane will move above the reactor: by consequence, it has to be always visible from any areas of the plant.

Built on the southern bank of an artificial lake on the Rio Tercero, the nuclear plant of Embalse is property of Nucleoeléctrica Argentina, and it is one of the most important plants of Latin America, with a workforce of 1200 people.

The CANDU reactor (Canadian Uranium Deuterium) with natural uranium, has more than 20 years of activity, so it needs an important update: the steam generators has now reached the limit of safety so they have to be replaced. They are tanks where water, thanks to the heat caused by nuclear fission, passes to the gaseous state before being put into the turbines generating electricity.

To carry out this delicate operation, it has been chosen an Effer 1750L 8S + 6S that, in particular, will install a superstructure which will be used to remove and replace the generators.

It is clear how the choice of the colour is often significant and not just accessory when it is a matter of safety. There are many different high-risk contexts, such as nuclear plants and railway tunnels, which require particularly loud and visible colours.

For this reason the quality of a long-lasting, shockproof coat which resists to extreme temperatures and under harsh conditions of work, is fundamental.
